This is #day17.
Over the summer, I am writing a short post about our day. The posts highlight some of our fun times, boring times, and imperfect times.

#Day17

Uh-oh! Not even 04:00. Boy awakens.
He is as disappointed as mummy and daddy when he sees the time.

. Sleep
. . . . . calls out
. . . . . . . . . . . as it
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . journeys
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . away.

Quietly, we play until 06:00. Plans for the day drift into consciousness.

Boy and I snuggle on the sofa.
I find sleep and cling to it for a short time.

Packing commences.
Keep it simple. Keep it light.

Teenage niece arrives.
She shares her late-night, online conversations.
They are in code. At least, they seem to be.

We all head out to meet Papa.
Niece and Boy rest their heads on my shoulder and sleep.
Change of plans; keep driving.

Late lunch in the city, then visit family.

Go for a walk.
Play Hunt & Freeze.
Daddy walks ahead looking for us; when he turns, we become statues.

Somehow, Daddy keeps playing it wrong.

Dinner. Boy has no appetite. Unusual.
He watches Paw Patrol.

Plans are discussed for tomorrow.
Who will go in which car?

Today, I wasn’t a terrible mummy.
Boy wasn’t terrible either.
Daddy was terrible at playing Hunt & Freeze.

Tomorrow, we head further north for great grandma’s 95th birthday party.

What is your favourite packing tip?
